Product DescriptionBuyer Business Info.
I am need of assistance for a prototype cannula part.
Most of the parts have no issues, but one of the main parts I am having difficulties in creating.
Part 6(as attached) is the part that I need made. It is made of two segments which are welded together.
This part is to allow fluid and "fat tissue" to flow through it.
Important note: About the parts files. The step file which I can send you file shows a flat tip - this is incorrect. It should be rounded and smooth as per the drawing file. Also, since I am not sure on how thin you can make the wall thickness, the step files shows my original wall thickness that should be reduced and hole sizes that should be increased.
You will notice that the wall thickness is quite thick in the part file. But I need the wall thickness to be as thin as possible to allow as much fluid to pass through it, without compromising the strength and stiffness of the part. I think a wall thickness of 0.25mm or less could be the best option.
Also the inlet holes and outlet hole can be a little larger too once the wall thickness decreased.
The material of all of the other parts in the assembly is SS316L, but for strength and rigidity I was thinking of using Titanium or cobalt-chromium/MP35N for this part 6. This is a medical device that is inserted to the body, so the material must be able to be used for medical use, and it must be reusable. Also you must have ISO 13485 and ideally CE certificate.
If this is a part that you can cost effectively produce for me? If this prototype is successful, then my client is considering in mass producing it up to 5000 pending testing of the device.
So, if you can produce it please go through the following points and add relevant points if you think that they are necessary.
Key Points to remember:
A) This is a re-usable, invasive medical device
B) The thread and outer diameters can not change since they are integral for an assembly that this part attaches to. If the outer diameter needs to change due to stock sizes, please let me know so we can discuss the design.
C) The wall thickness shown in the drawing is only and example. Ideally the wall thickness needs to be as thin as possible. And also the holes need to be as large as possible to allow as much fluid to pass through.
D) Only the single distal hole is inserted into the human body, and so this hole must be safe, de-burred and able to be cleaned.
E) The tip is to be rounded off as per the drawing.
1) What material would you suggest?
2) What is thinest wall thickness you can engineer for this part?
3) Can you increase the hole sizes? (Without compromising strength)
4) Are there any design changes you would suggest to simplify the design and make it cheaper and easier to produce?
5) What is the cost estimate for the prototype?
6) What is the timeframe to produce the prototype?
